Competitive Events
The Connecticut Association of Student Councils (CASC) offers a variety of student-centered leadership competitions designed to encourage excellence in service, communication, collaboration, and school engagement. Through events such as CSV and Top Project, CASC Competitions give student councils/governments the opportunity to highlight their initiatives, share effective practices, and strengthen leadership skills. These events foster teamwork, creativity, and community involvement while connecting students from across the state in a supportive, growth-focused environment.

Connecticut Student Voice
Individual Event (MS/HS)
About
CASC is dedicated to empowering student leaders and creating opportunities for their voices to be heard. Inspired by the Michigan Association of School Councils, CASC is proud to introduce Connecticut Student Voice (CSV).
This year’s CSV Theme is
“Overcoming fear and failure on the path to success.”
What is CSV?
CSV is designed to give our leaders the opportunity to present mini-keynotes at Convention in “PechaKucha” style. “PechaKucha” is a fast-paced, powerful presentation style known for telling stories through images rather than text. They use the 10x20 rule (10 slides, automatically advancing every 20 seconds) which encourages student speakers to practice their public speaking skills and link images to words.
Presentation Information
The PechaKucha style of presentation allows students to fully engage with their audience while simultaneously executing the critical components of public speaking. Students will bridge content knowledge on their selected topic with powerful images designed to support their presentation.
Presentations must be created in either PowerPoint or Google Slides, utilizing the transitioning slides to stay on point and move your presentation forward automatically.
Selection Process
To be selected to present at the Convention, students must first present at their district conference. Four students will be chosen from the district conferences (one from each district, or, if not all districts have participants, the top four presenters overall) to present at the Convention.
